I think the different UI has the effect of making people hear differently.Īnyway, the new features are related to new modulation options like the Function Generators, Shape Sequencers, quantizers, as well as some workflow improvements like drag and drop modulation assignments. I've even seen posts from people saying "it sounds better" that've had to be shutdown by U-he employees. I read some changes to compressor settings etc which could have an impact on the sound yes ?There are no changes to the sound at all. I take it that upgrading won't alter the sound of my saved patches in any way ? I'm a bit nervous as I have a lot of my own patches saved that are used in many tracks of mine.

I've just found out I can upgrade for free as I purchased ver.1 this year, Thanks U-He but sometimes it's nice to just get a sound and move on with the writing. I like tinkering in things Zebra, FM8, etc. and the thing is, I usually roll my own presets and rarely use factory sounds. YMMV of course, but for me, this was a big selling point. Helps that 99% of it is a sweet spotĪnd IMO, this has the best overall factory presets of any U-he synth. The other thing I'm enjoying is how fast it is to get a good sound of this synth.

I've been playing around with the wavetable position using the shape sequencers and function generators, mod matrix curves, etc. It's going to take some experimenting to really unearth the potential - but even just a few minutes of use makes the potential clear. The modulators seem simple on their own, but once you start getting them to interact, some pretty magical stuff starts happening. The new modulation system really opens up the synth.
Hive 2 is stupidly good! I had pretty much ignored v1, but v2 is awesome.

Hive 1.x serials won't work, hence all owners of Hive 1.x should check out this PDF which also comes with the download: Being a paid upgrade, it uses a new serial number. Hive 2.x overwrites and replaces Hive 1.x. We just released a pretty substantial update.
